Sylvia Kerkotchian

January 24, 1986 — January 6, 2025

Sylvia Kerkotchian was born on January 24, 1986. She departed this world on January 6, 2025. Her journey through life was regrettably marked by a courageous battle with cancer. She left behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and resilience.

Sylvia was defined by extraordinary qualities. She was not merely an individual; she was a beacon of warmth and intelligence, embodying beauty both inside and out.

Her capacity for compassion and her nurturing spirit led her to pursue a career in education. Sylvia worked at the Santa Monica/ Malibu Unified School district for sixteen years. In that time she touched the lives of many students, teachers and all who had the privilege of working with her.

Those who knew Sylvia would agree that she was not just a wife but a deeply devoted partner and a loving mother to her children. She was also a caring daughter, sister, and a cherished friend.

Sylvia leaves behind her loving husband, Benon, whose heart aches with an unfathomable loss. Together they shared a life rich in love, laughter, and countless adventures. Their idyllic union served as an inspiration for many.

Sylvia’s spirit lives on through her beloved children: her daughter, Nina and son, Shant, who will carry forth her legacy of kindness and strength.

Her parents Varso and Vago Mesrobian, as well as her brother, Koko Mesrobian, mourn the loss of their daughter and beloved sister, reflecting on the countless memories that will forever remain etched in their hearts.

Sylvia is also survived by her caring in-laws, Marina and Raffi Kerkotchian, and her brother in law, Daniel Kerkotchian. They all embraced her wholeheartedly, further encompassing Sylvia’s essence of family and love.

In acknowledgment of her life, a funeral service will be held on January 22, 2025, at Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills - Church of the Hills in Los Angeles, California, providing an opportunity for all who knew Sylvia to gather in remembrance, to share stories, and to find solace in one another. She will be greatly missed and her spirit will forever guide and inspire all who knew her.

Rest in peace, dear Sylvia. Your light will continue to shine brightly in the lives you touched.

Love you to the Moon and Back!
