Suzanne Jolly, aged 70, passed away at home Monday September 9, 2019, in Glendora after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Suzanne was born in Santa Ana, California, in 1949, the second child of Charles G. Velasco and Lupe Velasco. She is survived by sister, Julie (Jim) Kaller, and brother, David (Robin) Velasco. She is pre-deceased by brother, Charles E. Velasco. Suzanne is survived by her devoted husband Allen, loving sons Arnold and fiancée Karen; Aaron (Caprice); Aric (Lori); Grandchildren Ashley (Craig); Rikki( Jenny); Charlie, Courtney (Sean), Beau, Cheyenne, Alyssa, Meghan; great-grandchildren Jameson, Liv, Raegan, and countless nieces and nephews.
Suzanne lived her entire life in service to others. She was a registered nurse who worked at Rio Hondo Hospital, St. Bernardines, Kaiser and Foothill Presbyterian Hospital and spent much of her career as a surgical nurse. She loved patient care so much that after retirement she returned to work part-time to help patients transitioning from surgery to being self-sufficient at home.
She loved sports and, with her husband Allen, traveled all over to see her favorite teams play. One of her hobbies was quilting and she made many beautiful quilts for her grandchildren. Family was the most important thing in her life. She was always there to help her family. Parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family could always rely on Suzanne to be there with a helping hand and support.
Those who were lucky to be included in her circle were always smiling or laughing when around her. When she laughed, so did you because her happy nature was shared with all. She took command of a room when she entered and kept you listening to her every word.
The family wishes to thank all those who visited Suzanne, Virginia, (who took care of her,) who kept in contact with her and who extended their love to her and her family. If you would like to make a donation in Suzanne's name you can send it to the USC Norris Cancer Center at www.conquer.org/donate or to the American Cancer Society.
