Susana Wilkie

It is with great sadness we announce that on Sunday, February 26, 2023, Susana Taad Wilkie, a loving wife and mother, closed her eyes, quieted her pain, and ascended to eternal life. The cause of her passing is unknown at this time.

Susan was born in September 1959 to parents Manuela and Carlito Taad in Baguio City, Philippines. Susan attended college in Baguio, and she graduated from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. Following her siblings and parents, Susan moved with the light of her life, son Carlo, to Southern California in June of 1990.

Susan started her career with the City of Los Angeles in the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Sanitation (now known as LA Sanitation and Environment) in October 1999 as an Administrative Clerk. In September 2001, she promoted to Senior Administrative Clerk, supporting the Clean Water Division. In October 2017, Susan promoted to Personnel Records Supervisor in the same division and was looking forward to her retirement with her husband, Charles Wilkie, later this year. 

Susan was the life of any gathering or party she attended. With her megawatt smile, humor, penchant for gossip, and love for all, she squeezed the goodness out of life. Susan was an avid sports fan whose favorite teams were the Los Angeles Kings, Lakers, Dodgers and the Chicago Bears. Susan enjoyed going on adventures with her siblings, from exploring places like June Lake and testing their luck at casinos to savoring their favorite meals together.  Susan loved spending time with Carlo and Chuck most of all, golfing regularly, yelling at their favorite sports teams, and traveling. Susan had an enormously generous heart, and supported many causes, individuals, and Catholic groups. 

Susan departed from this life far too soon, and her love, smile, and heart will be missed forever. Susan was preceded in death by her parents in 2011 and 2019, and her son Carlo in 2020. She is survived by her husband, four siblings, and the countless other family members and friends Susan loved so dearly. 

Susan will be laid to rest on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Forest Lawn in Covina Hills.
