Susan Tam Ortencio, affectionately known as Sue, was born on December 24, 1956 in Hong Kong, and passed away on May 5, 2025 at her home. Sue's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and warmth that touched everyone she encountered.

Sue moved from Hong Kong to the United States when she was 13 years old. She learned English through immersion while tackling the culture shock during those formative years. She subsequently held multiple jobs simultaneously to put herself through college, and was the first in her family to attend college.

For an impressive 35 years, Sue served as a Financial Manager for the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Community Adult School division, where her keen intelligence and steadfast work ethic earned her the trust and respect of colleagues. Her professional journey was marked by commitment, but it was her personal life that truly radiated.

Sue was a devoted wife to her husband, Joey Ortencio for 40 years, and together they forged a life filled with love, laughter, and family. The holidays were especially close to her heart; she found immense joy in preparing special meals for loved ones, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her three daughters—Vanessa, Krystie, and Lauren—grew up enveloped in the warmth of her unconditional love and nurturing guidance.

Sue embraced her role of grandmother, or “pawpaw” 婆婆, with unbridled enthusiasm, showering her grandchildren—Sophie Ortencio Delmonico, Briana Quach, Bryce Quach, and Eli Tran—with affection and gentle attentiveness. She was overjoyed with each new milestone and shared many unforgettable moments with them.

Sue's bonds with her siblings—Paul Tam, Maizie Tam, and David Tam—were marked by shared memories and deep support. They will remember her not just for her generous spirit but also for the way she made their lives richer and more joyous.

Sue's legacy is one of love, warmth, and a sense of community. She was well-loved by everyone who knew her and brought joy and light into their lives, from her distinctive generous laughter, to her welcoming embraces. As we remember Susan Ortencio, we celebrate a life lived fully and passionately, surrounded by family and friends who shared in her warmth. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever illuminate the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her.

Friends and family will gather to honor her memory on:
