Susan Jean Carrion (Brindle) passed away Tuesday, November 17th at PIH in Whittier, CA.
Susan was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 20th, 1952 to John and Alice Brindle.
The Brindle family moved west to California in 1955. Settling first in Crescent City, CA and eventually ending up in Bellflower, CA.
Susan was preceded in death by both her parents and her sister Judy (Brindle) Banales.
Susan lived in Bellflower, CA where she attended St. Bernard's elementary school and Bellflower High School. Susan met the love of her life Tom (Jerry) Carrion in 1975. Tom and Susan married in 1978. They have 2 daughters, Laurie Carrion and Jessica Carrion.
Susan worked at Northrop Grumman in Pico Rivera as well as the Bellflower Unified School District. Tom and Susan were both retired and enjoying their time together especially spending time camping at Lake Cachuma. Family was important to Susan. She was known to keep a calendar of everyone's birthday. You could count on receiving a card for your birthday, anniversary or holidays. Most likely it was a card with a monkey.
Susan was a 20+ year breast cancer survivor and advocate for finding a cure. Susan did numerous walks and fundraisers with her friends and family over the years including the Komen 3 Day walk (60 miles) in San Diego 6 times!
Susan's was a grandmother and caregiver to Anthony Carrion, Bella Valenzuela, Gianna and Luna Hernandez. They were her light and joy. She made them and their activities her priority, attending various sporting events, school events and graduations. She enjoyed travelling to Montana to support Anthony (27) at Rocky Mountain College and her pick up / drop off duties with Bella (13) where they would share snacks and chats on the drive. She always had treats at the ready for Gianna (5) and Luna (4) who simply took over her house and attention when they arrived.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, daughters and grandchildren her brother Nelson (Jeanne) Brindle, Richard (Mary) Brindle, her aunt, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing for Susan at Forest Lawn Cypress on Tuesday 12/1 in the Serenity Room from 12pm - 4pm, 4471 Lincoln Ave. Cypress, CA 90630. Viewing is limited to 10 people at a time, masks must be worn. Your patience is appreciated.
The Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Downey on 12/2 at 10am. Seating will be limited, masks and social distancing will be required.
Susan will be cremated and interred at Forest Lawn Cypress on Thursday 12/10.
In lieu of flowers we are asking for donations to be made in Tribute to Susan G. Komen to support Susan Carrion's legacy.
