Stuart G. Slakoff

The family of Stuart G. Slakoff are saddened by his passing after a 6-year battle with cancer.

Stuart was a loving and cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Stuart was born in Van Nuys and lived there until he moved to Santa Clarita in 1985. Stuart married the love of his life, Carrie Gil, in 1980 and together they raised 3 amazing daughters.

Stu & Carrie started Professional Programs, Inc. one of the pioneer companies in convention recording, which they ran for 30 years until his retirement in 2013.

A man of many passions, Stu loved sports--especially Bruin football. During the UCLA off-season, it was Dodgers, Angels, or Kings games that filled his time. Stu's love of music had no boundaries, and he attended hundreds of concerts. He also loved traveling, making frequent trips to his favorite vacation spot, Hawaii. Finally, he loved his dogs, who were his constant companions.

Stuart's life was a complete one filled with family, life-long friendships, sports, music, and travel.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Caryl Slakoff. He is survived by his wife Carrie Gil Slakoff; his daughters Gloria Slakoff Hernandez, Danielle Slakoff-McLaughlin and Valerie Slakoff; his sister Cindy Brown, and countless other friends and family members.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, September 24th at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, with his burial immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks instead that donations be made to the Best Friends Animal Society (www.bestfriends.org) or directly to the family's GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/ab4bym8w)
