Steven Smalley

Steven Frederick Smalley, 60, much loved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, sadly passed away February 18, 2023. Steve will be tremendously missed by his family and friends. 

Born November 2, 1962, Steve initially went by his middle name, Fred, or Freddie, and many of his elementary school friends will remember him as such. 

Parents Nora and Michael Smalley moved with little Freddie, and his younger brother Tom (b. 1968) from Los Angeles to La Crescenta, in 1971.  Fred attended Monte Vista elementary, and upon entering Rosemont Jr High, preferred to be called Steve from then on.  Steve then attended Crescenta Valley High for his high school years. 

Youth activities included Y-Camp, Boy Scouts, family trips, fishing (which he loved), gardening, and camping.  Following in his parents’ footsteps, Steve learned, and grew to really love, square dancing. 

Moving in 1993 to North Hills, CA, Steve stayed close with his high school friends, continuing his camping and fishing expeditions.  Additionally, Steve ran a pool route, and many winters as a young adult were spent as a lift operator at the locally know, Mt Waterman ski resort in the Angeles National forest.

Steve moved to the Temecula area in 2015 becoming a member of two local RV communities:  Jojoba Hills SKP and Glen Eden, living, working, and developing close friendships with the members of both parks.

Steve is survived by his mother Nora, brother Tom, sister-in-law Bernadine, nephews Michael and Matthew, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Texas.  His family and friends love and miss him very much.

Two memorials will be held.  March 21, 2023, 3pm at Forest Lawn in Glendale.  And March 25, 2023, 12pm at Jojoba Hills SKP Resort in Aguanga, near Temecula.
