With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Steven Martinez, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who left us on January 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Southern California. He was 58 years old.
Born on September 10, 1966, in Lorain, Ohio, Steven carried a deep love for life, adventure, and the people around him. He dedicated over 20 years to helping others as a compassionate and skilled respiratory therapist, bringing comfort and care to those in need. His kindness, dedication, and unwavering support made a lasting impact on his patients and colleagues alike.
Outside of his work, Steven found joy in the ocean, whether it was catching waves while surfing or casting a line while fishing. He had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, always eager to explore new places and create lasting memories with his family. No matter where he went, his heart was always with those he loved most.
Steven was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan through thick and thin, cheering for his team regardless of the season’s outcome. His loyalty and optimism were a testament to the way he lived his life—steadfast, hopeful, and full of heart.
Above all, Steven cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sophy Martinez, and his two sons, Matthew Martinez and Jacob Morales, who will forever carry his love, wisdom, and adventurous spirit with them. His warmth, laughter, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of Steven’s life will be held on February 8th, 2025 at 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, CA 90630, where friends and family can come together to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to his GoFundMe page so they can address outstanding medical bills.
Though he may no longer walk beside us, Steven’s love and spirit will live on in the waves he rode, the places he traveled, and the hearts of those who knew him.
Rest in peace, Steven. You will always be loved.
