Steven Kelly Christensen

Steven Kelly Christensen passed away early Tuesday morning, August 15, 2017 at home with his loving wife Susan at his side. He was born in Long Beach, CA March 16, 1960, dying at the age of 57. In his youth, Steve was a Sea Scout achieving his Quarter Master and becoming an adult advisor on the Volunteer V. The Sea Scout program helped shape Steve's life and formed strong life long friendships. Steve was a Fire Fighter for 31 years, first with Hemet Fire Department then with Todd Shipyard. In 1984 he was hired on with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He became a Paramedic in 1987 and spent the remainder of his career doing what he loved - what he did best. Steve finished his career in the LACoFD Air Operations Bureau as a Flight Paramedic. In 2003 he joined Rancho Los Alamitos as their volunteer blacksmith but became so much more to their organization, reproducing historic ironwork for the accurate restoration of buildings and grounds, contributing to the preservation of the site and creating a lasting legacy of his skills. He is survived by his wife Susan, mother Evelyn, brother Roger, sister Linda, "sista" Billy Joyce and many nieces and nephews. Hero – Husband – Photographer – Woodworker – Blacksmith – Chef – And so much more. A truly generous and remarkable Renaissance man. He will be missed.
