Steve Picciolo, Jr. was born February 15,1928 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. His family moved to Los Angeles when Steve was a teenager. "Pic" as he was known, served in the U.S. Army where he was an athletic instructor and paratrooper. Upon his return from WWII, Steve became very active in the Santa Monica community and married Joyce Lake and had two sons, Tony and Steven. In 1961 he sold Ocean House to build Casa Descanso, which was the largest licensed board and care facility in Los Angeles until fairly recently. Steve then married Beth Wayne who brought to his family Brad and Patty Wayne. Steve had a true passion for real estate and acquired many properties through the years. Not only was Steve hardworking but he had many and varied hobbies. Golfing, playing gin rummy, boating and body surfing brought Steve so much joy. He won several member championships at Riviera Country Club. He was active at the California Yacht Club and Sand and Sea Club for over 30 years. During his retirement Horse racing brought excitement to his life. One of the highlights in Steve's life was that one of HIS horses ran in the 1996 Kentucky Derby. Steve loved to travel, to collect antiques, and to cultivate cactus with his move to Rancho Mirage. Steve passed peacefully July 20, 2013.
