Stephen J. Tardiff, 73 of Hampstead, NH, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, February 13, 2015. He was born on November 12, 1941 in Salem, MA the son of the late Ludger and Stella (Opalinski) Tardiff. He was raised and educated in Salem and graduated from Salem High School.

He went to work for United Shoe Machinery Corporation, where he worked for 53 years, until his retirement.

Stephen was very skilled with his hands and with anything that involved tools. He transformed his camp to a two level home for him and his wife, Doris. He also enjoyed tinkering with his computer. Stephen and Doris enjoyed taking trips together. Trips to North Conway, NH and Vermont were among their favorite places to visit. Above all else, Stephen's greatest pleasure was entertaining his family. He took so much pleasure from hosting large family gatherings where he would cook for his family. He will be sadly missed by his family, but he will be remembered as someone who was kind and patient with others and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 40 years, Doris L. (Woods) Tardiff of Hampstead, NH. His daughters; Stephanie Suprin and husband, Kenny of Newburyport, MA, Pamela Tardiff of Newburyport, MA, Cheryl Kusiak and husband, Paul of Beverly, MA and Paula Miller of Beverly, MA. His sons; Roger Tardiff and wife, Jeannie of Salisbury, MA, Brian Fraser and wife, Kim of Walpole, MA and Mark Fraser and wife, Lori of Tampa, FL. His sister, Helen Dixie and husband, Bill of Salem, MA as well as 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and 1 niece and 1 nephew also survive him.

Family and friends are invited to Mr. Tardiff's Life Celebration on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (Rt. 121A), Plaistow, NH 03865. His funeral will begin on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 10 AM at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Anne's Church, 26 Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH 03841. Burial will take place in the spring.
