Stephen Ray Johnson

Stephen (Steve) Ray Johnson, age 67, lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday November 1, 2018.

Steve is survived by his wife Judy of 48 years, daughters April (married to Joe Gaffney Jr), Lisa, and grandchildren Alexis and Kieran, brother Timothy (married to Julie). He is preceded in death by his parents Otis (Clyde) and Mildred, sister Brenda Sauer.

Born in Oberlin Ohio, Steve lived in Elyria Ohio until moving to Whittier California his Sophomore year in high school. After getting married and joining the Army, Steve moved around (Ohio, Oklahoma, Germany, Southern California) until finally settling his family in Montclair California.

A devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Steve enjoyed his family. He enjoyed watching them grow up and eventually getting a chance to work side by side with them. He truly enjoyed being around his "girls". His grandchildren were his life. Soccer and baseball games on the weekend became Steve's passion. Whether the game was at 7am or 100 miles away, Steve found a way to be there. A big racing fan, Steve also enjoyed NASCAR and had a few opportunities to participate in driving those vehicles, it was a dream come true for him. He demonstrated his joy for life in everything that he did.
