Stanley Kolodzi

March 25, 1948 — May 8, 2024

Stanley A. Kolodzi, born March 25, 1948, passed away on May 8, 2024.  He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Stanley and Frances Kolodzi.  The family relocated to Van Nuys, California, in the early 1950s, where Stanley attended local schools.  During his secondary education, he showcased his talent as a professional figure skater, earning several National Gold Medals in the sport.  Following his graduation from Monroe High School, Stanley dutifully served his country, being drafted into the U.S. Army for a two-year station in Panama City, where he worked as a desk clerk holding the rank of Sergeant (Specialist 5th Class).  During his service, he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Marksman Badge, and a Good Conduct Medal.

Utilizing the benefits of the G.I. Bill, he pursued higher education at California State University, Los Angeles, graduating with distinction.  Initially embarking on a career as a math teacher, Stanley also dedicated his summers to employment at the RCA Corporation (RCA), where his mother held a position.  Eventually, the opportunities at RCA proved more lucrative, prompting him to transition into a full-time role as a buyer of parts for aircraft.  Over the years, as the company underwent several ownership changes, Stanley remained steadfast in his commitment, culminating in a well-deserved retirement at the age of 60.  During his retirement years, he lovingly cared for his mother Frances until her passing in 2014.

Stanley was a man of diverse interests and talents. He traveled the world with cherished and beloved friends.   He was an avid skier, figure skater, and cook.  He invested in real estate, owning properties in Burbank, Mammoth Lakes, and Rancho Mirage.  Beyond his recreational pursuits, Stanley was a skilled handyman, adept at remodeling and maintaining his properties.

He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Frances, his brothers Kenneth and Robert, and his partner Steven.  He is survived by his sister-in-law Caroline; his nephews Brian, Robert, and Michael; his nieces Robin and Kristina; and their respective spouses, partners, and families.

A service commemorating Stanley's life will be held at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cathedral City, California, on May 19, 2024, followed by a crypt burial at their location.
