Soon Myung Cha

Dr. Soon Myung Cha, age 82, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, in Los Angeles, California.

Born in Korea, Dr. Cha attended Hanguk Sahm Yook High School and earned his medical degree from Kyung Hee University. In 1975, he came to the United States to pursue a pathology residency in Atlanta, Georgia. When that program ended, he continued his medical journey in Jackson, Mississippi, as a general practitioner before moving to New York for an anesthesia residency at Beth Israel. Ultimately, he discovered his true calling in obstetrics and gynecology, completing his OB/GYN residency at Brooklyn Hospital.

In 1983, Dr. Cha moved to Los Angeles, where he practiced medicine in Koreatown with dedication and compassion until his retirement in 2017.

Beyond his professional life, Dr. Cha was a member of the Los Angeles Central Seventh-day Adventist Church and liked playing golf, traveling, and spending time with family. He was the beloved son of Cha Neung Ho and Lee Joon Hee, and the cherished brother of Cha Soon Hee, Cha Soon Ja, Cha Soon Bin, Cha Soon Ae, and Cha Soon Ok. He is survived by his children Joseph, Linda, and Jennifer, and his grandchildren Sebastian, Quinn, Adeline, and Summer.

Funeral services are being arranged through Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills. Following the funeral service, all are welcome to join the family for lunch at Yongsusan Restaurant, 950 S Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90006.
