Reverend Doctor Solomon Gomwalk Gochin was born on March 15, 1951, in Amper, Kanke LGC of Plateau State, Nigeria and he passed away in the hospital on March 9, 2026, just days before his 75th birthday. He lived in Canoga Park California at the time of his death. Dr. Gochin lived a life of deep purpose and quiet strength, and his presence touched everyone, fortunate enough to know him.
Solomon dedicated his life to the service of others, walking faithfully in his roles as pastor, counselor, and business owner. Whether guiding a congregation, sitting with someone in their most difficult moments, or building something of his own, he brought the same unwavering integrity to everything he did. He had a remarkable gift with the rare ability to truly listen and to provide the right words to the people who came to him. People who came to him burdened so often left feeling heard, understood, and renewed.
Those who knew Rev. Gochin will remember him as man of patience and wisdom, someone who never rushed to speak but whose words when given carried weight and comfort. He had a lifelong love of learning and reading, a hunger for knowledge that reflected his deep belief that growth never stops. That curiosity and thoughtfulness shaped not only his own life, but the lives of all he mentored and counseled.
Solomon leaves behind a legacy written in the hearts of those he loved most. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Rhoda; his son, Joel and daughter-in-law, Ramona; his daughter, Panmwa and his cherished grandchildren, TatiAnna, Abigail, Serafina and Josiah-Ray. Along with several uncle’s, aunts and cousins and in-laws. He was a shepherd, a guide, and a steady light for those in his orbit, his wisdom and warmth will continue to echo through the generations he leaves behind.
