Socorro Herrera Medina

Socorro “Coco” Herrera Medina, de 93 años, nació el 4 de agosto de 1931 en Otáez Ciénega de Olivos, Durango, México, hija de Emilio Herrera y Elisa Reyes, y falleció el 20 de abril de 2025 en Roseville, California, donde residía con sus dos hijas.

Tuvo a sus hijos en Mexicali, México, y pasó la mayor parte de su vida en Los Ángeles, California, donde los crió y estuvo rodeada de familiares, amigos y la comunidad. A Coco le sobreviven sus hijos (Marissa Perea, Carmen Perea, y Mario Castro), nietos (Amber Valdez, Heather Valdez, y Jovan Valdez), hermanos, sobrinos y sobrinas, y numerosos seres queridos.

Los arreglos están a cargo de Forest Lawn en Glendale, California. El servicio de oración se llevará a cabo el 9 de mayo, de 5:00 PM a 9:00 PM, en la capilla Wee Kirk o’ the Heather de Glendale. El funeral se llevará a cabo el 10 de mayo a la 1:30 PM en la Iglesia del Recesional de Glendale, seguindo de una procesión fúnebre y servicio junto a la tumba. Todos los servicios se llevarán a cabo en Forest Lawn Memorial Parks and Mortuaries, 1712 S. Glendale Ave., Glendale, CA 91202.

Socorro “Coco” Herrera Medina, 93, was born on August 4, 1931, in Otáez Cienega de Olivos, Durango, Mexico, to Emilio Herrera and Elisa Reyes, and passed away on April 20, 2025, in Roseville, California, where she resided with her two daughters.

She had her children in Mexicali, Mexico, and spent most of her life in Los Angeles, California, where she raised her children and was surrounded by family, friends, and community. Coco is survived by her children (Marissa Perea, Carmen Perea, and Mario Castro), grandchildren (Amber Valdez, Heather Valdez, and Jovan Valdez), siblings, nieces and nephews, and many loved ones.

Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn in Glendale, California. A Prayer Service will be held on May 9th, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Wee Kirk o’ the Heather Glendale Chapel, and the Funeral Service will be held on May 10th at 1:30 PM at the Church of the Recessional, Glendale, followed by a funeral procession and graveside service. All services will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Parks and Mortuaries, 1712 S. Glendale Ave., Glendale, CA 91202.
