Danville, NH: Sister Elizabeth Anne Lee of the Little Sisters of Saint Francis went home to God on February 15, 2015 after a journey with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and M. Irene (Kirkpatrick) Lee.
She leaves behind her sister Nancy R. Lee of Hampstead, a brother Harvey J. Lee and his wife Maude of Telford, PA, nephews, Brian Lee and his wife Cindy, Kevin Lee and his wife Jen, grand nephews, Devon and Brendon Lee, and her beloved Little Sisters of Saint Francis. She was predeceased by her nephew David Lee.
She was born on October 30, 1947 in Norristown, PA, and educated there in the local Catholic school system, graduating from Kendrick Catholic High School.
From 1973 until 1978, Sr. Elizabeth Anne was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement, Graymoor, NY.
On May 1, 1979, with the approval of His Eminence, the late Cardinal Humberto Medeiros, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Boston, Sr. Elizabeth Anne founded the community of The Little Sisters of Saint Francis in the Mission Hill section of Roxbury, Massachusetts. In 1984, the community moved to Millis and later to Amesbury in 1986. In 1995, with the approval of Bishop Leo O'Neil of the Diocese of Manchester New Hampshire, the community moved to its present location in Danville, NH.
To describe Sr. Elizabeth Anne would be to say that she loved much. Everyone who knew her has their own story. Her great love of God and his people flowed from her deep and unshakable faith.
Her journey here is ended and now begins the greatest journey of all, her entrance into eternity. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Saint Michael's Church, 9 Lincoln St., Exeter. The Rite of Reception will take place at 3 p.m. with Evening Prayer at 5 p.m., Lenten Mass at 6 p.m. and Night Prayer at 7:45 p.m. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Saint Michael's Church. Burial will be in the Spring at Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to The Little Sisters of Saint Francis, P.O. Box 478, Danville, NH 03819.
