Sirvart Danavi

November 23, 1922 — April 9, 2015

Sirvart Lalaian Danavi was born in Tabriz in 1922 to Ashken and Alexander Lalaian. Sirvart had three siblings, a sister Aghoush and brothers Ashot and Varoojan.

She had a passion for fashion and beautiful dresses so she grew up to be a seamstress. She was a true artist, able to recreate the latest French designs. Over the years she was able to bring joy to many young brides on their special day. She was the ultimate "Say yes to the dress!" In 1955 she married literally the boy next door, Siroun Danavi. He was the love of her life. They were blessed with two children, a son Razmik, and a daughter Roubina.

Sirvart and her family immigrated to the United States in 1977 from Iran. Tragedy struck her family when Razmik passed in 1981. The family was distraught and devastated. Soon after, Sirvart lost her husband. Though devastated and broken, she went back to her passion of sewing and started working again. She worked long hours to provide for her daughter and herself. She was able to send her daughter to college, and in 1988 Roubina graduated from Cal State - Northridge with an engineering degree. Sirvart was a proud mama!!

Sirvart's daughter married Mark Coleman in 1992. Sirvart came alive with the birth of her granddaughter, Christina, in 1994 and again in 1998 with the birth of her grandson, Andrew. Through her grandchildren she was able to once again experience joy in life, and lived her remaining years for them. She took care of them in every way she could, and gained great pleasure in watching them grow.

Towards the end of her life, Sirvart was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. This awful disease stole many of her memories, but not her wonderful spirit.
Sirvart passed away peacefully on April 9, 2015 with her daughter and her brother's daughter by her side.
Sirvart will be remembered as a determined, hard-working, strong, and resilient woman, and a loving, dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.
