Simon Olague, 78, was born on October 28, 1947, in Zacatecas, Mexico, and spent most of his childhood in Ciudad Juárez. He later made his home in Los Angeles, California, where he built a life rooted in love, creativity, and dedication to his family.
A man of many talents, Simon worked over the years as a musician, garment cutter, and landscaper. Music was at the center of who he was. He loved music deeply and played his guitar almost every day, finding joy and comfort in its strings. He was also a writer at heart, rarely without a pen nearby, and took great pleasure in collecting pens and notebooks, each one a small invitation to capture thoughts, lyrics, or bible scriptures.
In Los Angeles, he met the love of his life, Esperanza. It was love at first sight, and they were married in 1976, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with devotion and shared dreams. Together they raised three children. Family was everything to him, and he took great pride in being a father and, later, a grandfather.
He passed away on January 1st, 2026 and is survived by his beloved wife, his three children, and his three grandchildren who brought him immense joy and pride. His love, music, and words will live on through them.
Simon will be remembered for his gentle spirit, creative soul, and unwavering love for his family. His guitar may now be at rest, but the music he brought into the world will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
