Sian Wang passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles on March 10, 2024, after battling cancer. Born in Montreal and raised in Toronto, he leaves behind a legacy of remarkable professional achievements and cherished personal relationships. He is survived by his wife, Madeleine, his sons, Brady and Oliver, his mother, Sally and his sister, Erika.
Sian's professional journey was marked by excellence and accomplishment. He embarked on his career as a corporate lawyer in New York, establishing himself at the firms Cravath, Swaine & Moore and Kirkland & Ellis. Transitioning into the business world, Sian assumed leadership roles at McKinsey, Siebel, and Intuit in business development and strategy. As his career progressed, Sian took on the role of Chief Financial Officer at Intuit's Payments division, SteelHouse, and FastSpring, and also served as a board member at Keynes Digital. His leadership style was marked by mentorship and camaraderie, with many of his colleagues also becoming close friends.
Sian had a deep intellect and dedication to learning, and his academic achievements were equally impressive. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Politics from Princeton University. He furthered his education with a JD from Columbia Law School, where he distinguished himself as a Senior Editor of the Columbia Law Review. Venturing beyond law, he later obtained an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also met Madeleine.
Described as witty, wise, generous, and kind-hearted by those who knew him, Sian cultivated lasting friendships that spanned decades. He was an audiophile who took great pride in his stereo system and was a loyal fan of his favorite sports teams, the New York Knicks and the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved playing golf, especially with his son Brady. He was a devoted father whose greatest joy was spending time with Brady and Oliver.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 10:00am in the Church of the Recessional at Forest Lawn in Glendale (1712 South Glendale Ave, Glendale, CA 91205). This will be an opportunity to celebrate Sian's life and to remember the lasting impact he had on all who had the privilege of knowing him. The service will be followed by the interment and a lunch reception. Please RVSP to Madeleine at madeleil@gmail.com if you plan to attend.
