Shiwoong "Shu / Shawn" Kang

Shiwoong "Shu / Shawn" Kang, 52, born on March 07, 1972, in Seoul, South Korea, passed away January 30, 2025 after a 23 year battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by people who loved him dearly. 

At the age of 3, he immigrated to the United States with his family. Attended Garden Grove Elementary, Northridge Junior High, Chatsworth High School (Class of 1990), and graduated from University of North Florida with a major in accounting. 

In 2002, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Although, having brain cancer and receiving treatment, he continued to work as a Certified Real Estate Appraiser until 2015. His main goal in this life was to outlive his parents and to make sure his parents, his little brother and big sister's families were well taken care of. He never married. He never had children of his own, however, loved his nephew's and niece with his whole heart. 

He was kind, gentle, humble, respectful, a true man, never complained, and full of love that was always extended to family and friends.

Most importantly, he loved God. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in his late teens. He reaffirmed his faith in baptism in year 2019.

He was a son, brother, nephew, good friend, and an "uncle" to so many. He was loved by all that knew him, and loved all that he knew. 

He resided in Santa Clarita, CA at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA.
