Shirley Ann Vander Schaaf, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother affectionately known as “Cha Cha”, passed away peacefully at the age of 69, surrounded by her loving husband, David Vander Schaaf, and her loving family on August 30, 2026.

Shirley Ann was born on July 8, 1957, in Montclair, California, to Joy and Theresa Cortez. She grew up in Chino Hills and graduated from Chino High School.

Throughout her life, Shirley was a source of incredible love, strength, and guidance for her family. She married the love of her life, David Vander Schaaf, on June 18, 1976. David and Shirley raised five daughters and one son: Tammy and Ronnie De Vries, Dina Van Ryn and Richard Tillema, Renae and Eric Haakma, Lisa and Jeff Jongsma, Laurie and Brent Vander Eyk, and Davey Vander Schaaf. Her children will forever be grateful for her unconditional love, strong faith, unwavering support, and the many memories she shared throughout their lives.

Shirley loved her family deeply and had a natural passion for business and numbers. Together, she and David built a successful dairy starting in Chino, California, before later moving the dairy to Bakersfield, California. She was hardworking, determined, and took great pride in the business they built and the life they created for their family. She had a warm and generous spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a gift for making the people around her feel loved. Her strength, dedication, and love for her family were woven into everything she did.

In addition to her children, Shirley is survived by her fourteen grandchildren: Heidi Van Ryn, Ronnie D. De Vries, Dylan and Kameryn Van Ryn, Emily Van Ryn, David John Haakma, Roxann De Vries, Jacob Haakma, Ashley Haakma, Harisson Jongsma, Olivia Vander Eyk, Liliann Joy Jongsma, Holland Van Ryn, Victoria Vander Eyk, and Sophia Vander Eyk; as well as three great-grandchildren: Remington Van Ryn, Wesson Gallardo, and Rifle Van Ryn. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends who were blessed by her warmth, kindness, and love.
