Shirley Radant

Shirley Granzow Radant was born on January 1, 1929, at West Suburban Hospital Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel B. Granzow and Martha L. Granzow. She passed away August 10, 2026, peacefully at home with her family at 97. She lived a long and meaningful life. She was blessed.

She married Milton Erwin Radant on August 29, 1952, in Oak Park Illinois. She is survived by her husband of 73 years; three children: Allen Radant, Jeff Radant (Becky) and Nancy Ganther (Curt); six grandchildren: Caleb Radant (Maria), Whitney Radant (Karo), Gretchen Yahnke (David), Hannah Batistelli (Nicholas), Grant Ganther (Derek) and Ricky Radant; and five, soon to be six great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Kenneth  Granzow (Laurie), sister-in-law, Virginia Granzow, and her devoted dog, Tucker. Her brother, Daniel Granzow, preceded her in death.

Shirley graduated from Wheaton College in 1950 in Christian Education. She built her life with Milton in California. She was a homemaker for much of her life while working at the church. She was a Christian Education director, taught Sunday School and was involved in many activities. In 1978 she graduated from Cal State Northridge with a degree in accounting. She became a CPA and worked as a tax accountant for AMI for 10 years before retiring.

In retirement she was very busy. She worked in the church as an Elder, tutored children and found time to feed the homeless. Shirley was devoted to church and serving the Lord. She had a servant’s heart and was always ready to help as needed. She was always available to cook, donate money and give her time.

She loved her family dearly! She was always available to babysit her grandchildren and watch their sporting activities. As they grew, she enjoyed playing Rummy tiles. She loved being with her family at Big Bear and water skied to 79!  It was so fitting that Jackie, the Big Bear eagle passed on the same day.   I can only imagine her in heaven soaring on wings like eagles!  She loved all animals, especially Brittney Spaniels.  She touched the lives of many people, at her church, her neighborhood and her family. She will be missed but we rejoice that she is in Heaven!

There will be a viewing at Forest Lawn on Friday August 21st at 2 pm. Graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn on Saturday August 22nd at 9:30.
