Shirley Deloris Blum

Shirley Deloris (Skarsten) Blum died June 10, 2020 after struggling with dementia. Shirley was born August 5, 1934 to Leif Skarsten and Goldie (Spaanem) Skarsten. Shirley was the eldest child with thirteen siblings. She attended grades 1 through 6 in a country school near their farm in rural Benson, Minnesota. She then completed high school at the Benson High School, Benson, Minnesota graduating with the class of 1952.
After graduation from high school she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she worked as a bookkeeper at a branch bank and met her future husband, Eugene Blum.
On October 3, 1953 Shirley was united in marriage to Eugene Arthur Blum of Appleton, Minnesota. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Buena Park, California where they spent their entire wedded life together. They enjoyed over 66 years of wedded bliss. Eugene and Shirley had four sons (Allen, Dwight, Kevin, and Donald) and one daughter Debra.
Shirley was a loved and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Allen (Chris), Kevin and Donald; daughter, Debbie Hernandez; grandsons, Justin Blum and Mark Blum; granddaughters Courney Blum, Malissa Hernandez; and Marlene Blum; great granddaughter, Josie Marie Roman and great granddaughters TBD Blum and TBD Menjirvor both due mid-September 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, son Dwight Blum and brothers Mark, Bruce, Lyle, Charles, Wayne, and Theodore.
