Sheila Veronica Nugent, 80, born on September 6, 1934 in Letterkeny, Ireland, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2015. She fought a tough battle against Alzheimer, as she resided in Milton, Georgia, near her son Brian and family at the time of her passing. Though the last few years of her life was taken by the disease she lead a truly full and independent life before then.
As a single mother she and her sister took their young children to England to start a new and fresh life. Life was tough for Sheila and her children but she taught them focus and perseverance. In England she held many jobs, including a Prison Warden at Holloway Prison, one of the toughest prisons in England. Where she was assaulted and nearly killed by one of the woman prisoners. To make ends meet she also sold cigarettes and worked as a bar maid. After raising her children she set off to California to start a new adventure. John her youngest son would soon follow.
Brian and his young family followed in the 1980's after the death of brother John. Sheila has had so many adventures that followed and she left behind hundreds of pictures to share (not to mention many broken hearts - as she was such an incredible beauty). Prior to coming to Milton, she lived off the beaten path in the Arizona desert where she build a home, installed a well, and had solar electricity on fifty acres of land. This was a place she would often share with her grandchildren as she also was the most amazing grandmother.
Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California. Her services will be Saturday Morning beginning at 9 a.
She lived life well and with a true zest for life. She will be sadly missed by all her family including her son Brian Nugent who was with her as she passed to be received into the loving arms of her deceased son John. Her immediate loving family includes Grandchildren Gareth Nugent, Sarah Nugent, Michael Nugent, Chelsey DuBois and Chase DuBois and Great Grandchildren Kaitlyn, Natalie and Britain as well as two daughter in laws Christine Buckner Wells and Christina DuBois Nugent.
She had an amazing heart filed with gratitude, generosity and grace. A truly strong single mother who raised two amazing sons and left lasting impressions to so many.
