Sharon Lynn (Cox) Leath
July 18, 1967 – February 18, 2026
Sharon Lynn (Cox) Leath, our beloved “Pooh,” passed away on February 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin and friend whose warmth and loyalty touched countless lives.
Sharon’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted and proud mother to Vanessa Romero (Jon) and Jason Leath (Hunter Olivier). Her grandson, Jacob Rosales, was truly her pride and joy. Sharon was instrumental in raising Jacob, pouring into him her love, guidance, and unwavering support. Being his grandmother was one of the greatest blessings of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Colleen Cox, and her brother-in-law, Tom Grutz. She is survived by her children, Vanessa and Jason; her grandson, Jacob; her sisters Kelly (David) Wilkins and DeDe Grutz; numerous nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply. She also leaves behind her beloved “besties”—Mona Morrell, Lori Jones, and Jeanette McConnell—whose friendship brought her laughter, strength, and countless treasured memories.
Sharon built a meaningful career, working for Marriott and later with the California Highway Patrol, where she excelled in her work and formed many lasting friendships. She was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and genuine kindness toward colleagues and those she served.
A devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Pirates, Sharon never missed an opportunity to cheer on her Steel City teams—in person, whenever possible. Her love for Pittsburgh sports began in childhood and her most treasured possession was a baseball bat given to her by Pirates great Manny Sanguillen when she was just a little girl—a keepsake she treasured throughout her life.
Above all, Sharon loved her Savior and was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the church where she was raised. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through joys and challenges alike. She lived her faith through acts of love, generosity, and steadfast devotion to those around her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn in Coachella, California. A reception will follow from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Indio, California.
Sharon will be remembered for her big heart, fierce loyalty, steadfast faith, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Though her time with us was far too short, her legacy of love will continue through her children, grandson, and all who were blessed to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
