Severino M. Icarro

June 8, 1928 — March 9, 2021

Severino M. Icarro, 92, of Van Nuys, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 9, 2021.

Born in San Pablo, Laguna Philippines, Sev lost his mother at a very young age. He grew up with relatives in Tiaong, Quezon while his father moved away to work. He enlisted in the Philippine Scouts and served with the United States Army during World War II. After the war, he supported himself through college, earning his bachelor's degree in Accounting from Far Eastern University while working at the Bureau of Fisheries. It was at work where he met the love of his life, Rosario.

He dedicated his life providing for and caring for his family, who he always thought of ahead of himself. It was his desire to provide a better future for his family that he came to the United States when Filipino WWII veterans were allowed to immigrate. Instead of retiring comfortably in the Philippines, he started a new life in the US.

Sev was a man of few words who will be best remembered for his kindness and sense of humor. He was a good man who lived life simply, honestly and fearlessly. He ate heartily and laughed easily. Many remember him for helping them find jobs or the funny stories that he would tell. He loved dogs, cars, gardening, Fernando Poe, Jr. (a Filipino actor), and James Bond.

It is this life that will be remembered. It is this man with his will to live joyfully and love completely that will be sorely missed.

He is the beloved husband of Rosario (nee Reyes) for 58 years; devoted father of Teresa, Roberto (Maureen), Eugenio (Rebecca), and Evelyn. Cherished grandfather of Matthew and Ryan. Loving uncle and friend to many.
