Scarlet Avakian Sookiasian

Scarlet Sookiasian, age 53, of Los Angeles, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, April 7, 2019.

A memorial service will be held for Scarlet on Sunday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the White Church at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a cancer organization of your choice in Scarlet's name.

Scarlet was born in Tehran, Iran to Mr. & Mrs. Sookias and Flora Sookiasian on November 6, 1965. In 1978, at the age of 13, Scarlet played an instrumental role in helping her family resettle from Tehran to Los Angeles at the outbreak of the Iranian Revolution. While her father stayed behind to close that chapter of their lives, Scarlet and her family arrived in Los Angeles where they stayed with their aunt Mrs. Hersik Gregorian and her family. Scarlet took the lead and found her family a place to live as she and the rest of the family settled into their new life in America. Scarlet's ability to persevere and lead her family is a trait she exhibited throughout her life. Ask any of her family members and friends and they will tell you about a time that Scarlet opened her heart and home to them.

Scarlet is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Arsen and Hrachoohi Hovanes.

She is survived by her parents Sookias and Flora Sookiasian, her brother Fred Sookiasian, her sister-in-law Reena Danielli, her beloved nephew Aiden Sookiasian, cousins Helena Grigorian and Andrew Gregorian, aunts, uncles and countless friends.
