Savin Sam Houy, age 48, who was known as Sam to all, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by family on December 22, 2024 at Corona Regional. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons ages (27, 18, 15) and 2 daughters ages (16, 10).
Sam was born on June 12, 1976 and grew up in Long Beach, CA. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1995 and received his Associates Degree at Long Beach City College in 1999. He worked as an Aviation Mechanic for 24 years in which 17 of those years was spent working on airplanes for FedEx.
10 years ago, he was diagnosed with a rare genetic progressive neurodegenerative disease called Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 3 (MJD). Although there is no current cure, that did not damper his outlook on life. He lived each day to the fullest, loved to travel and truly was a devoted husband and father.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 9:00am on Friday, January 10 at the Patriots Chapel Forest Lawn in Cypress. 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, CA 90630.
