Saundra J. (cortell) White

Newton, NH: Saundra J. (Cortell) White, 70, a resident of Newton for the past 40 years, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton, MA.

Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, MA, daughter of the late Ben and Lillian (Nesbitt) Cortell, she graduated from Haverhill High School and attended Boston College.

Saundra and her late husband Donald R. White owned and operated Ben Cortells on Merrimack St. in Haverhill from 1978 until 1988 and also owned and operated Crown Silk Screening and Saun-Don Cattery. Most recently she was employed as a clerk and cashier at T.J. Maxx in Plaistow.

A member of the Cat Fanciers Association and The International Cat Association, she enjoyed shopping and horseback riding in her younger years.

Saundra was predeceased by her husband Donald R. White in 1999 and her longtime companion Ronald Mullick in 2014. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sherri E. White of Newton, Cindi R. (Widgren) and Dale Silverman of Spring Hill TN, and Stacia C. (White) and Michael Mackie of Hampstead, two sisters, Patricia Miller of Cumberland, RI and Judith Simonson of Montana, six grandchildren, Christopher White, Stephanie Jantti, Jason Mitchell, Ericka Mitchell, Ashleigh Dale, and HaileyAnn Dale, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow. Her graveside service and celebration of her life will be held in the Spring at Highland Cemetery, Newton.
