Sarah Box Valdez

Obituary:

In loving memory of Sarah Valdez, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Sarah passed away on July 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.

Born in Texas on July 20, 1941, to John Box and Juanita Alvarado Box,  Sarah along with her siblings, Perla, Florinda, John, Oscar, Charlie, Dora, Adam, Emma, Roy and Linda lived on the family ranch in San Juan, Texas until they moved to the Coachella Valley in 1954. She graduated from Coachella Valley High School in 1961 and soon after married Danny Valdez in 1962.

She led a life that exemplified selflessness and unwavering dedication to her family. She found fulfillment in staying at home to raise her children and later embraced the role of a nurturing grandmother who took joy in supporting her grandchildren.

Sarah's warm and kind-hearted nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She possessed a quiet sweetness but could exhibit a fiery spirit when faced with situations that demanded strength. Her ability to balance these qualities reflected the depth of her character.

Among Sarah's favorite pastimes were tending to her flowers, plants, indulging in the simple pleasures of shopping and maintaining her home.  These activities brought her happiness.

One of Sarah's proudest accomplishments was witnessing the growth of her grandchildren into loving parents and adults, a testament to the values she instilled in them throughout their lives.

Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Valdez and her grandsons Adrian Valdez and Robert Araujo. She is survived by her daughters Michelle Valdez and Janelle Valdez Arriaga (Mark), 7 grandchildren David Ochoa, Aaron Arriaga, Jonathan Garcia, Amanda Arriaga and Alina Garcia, 4 great grandchildren and one on the way.

A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Sarah's life will be held on August 23, 2024, at Forest Lawn  - Mortuary Chapel in Coachella, CA. The service will begin at 5:00 PM to commemorate the beautiful legacy that Sarah leaves behind for those who were touched by her presence.

In remembrance of Sarah Valdez, let us carry forward the love she shared so generously and the grace with which she lived each day. May she rest in peace knowing she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of calling her family or friend.
