Sandra Lee Rompal

January 4, 1942 — January 16, 2014

Sandra Rompal was born January 4th,1942, and was passed into God's hands on January 16th, 2014. Although unexpected, Sandy was surrounded by her family, close friends and the love everyone shared for her. Sandy was born in Youngstown, Ohio, but had resided in Southern California for most her life. The past forty or so years she has enjoyed the Santa Clarita Valley as her home. She is survived by her brother, Richard, and her children; Michael, Roger, Tammy, Monte, and Renelle, as well as her 14 grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Sandy was very involved with the community as a mother. She volunteered countless hours during her children's years in elementary school. Sandy then began working for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sepulveda as a clerk. Her drive and hard work allowed her to move up and she retired as a hospital Program Manager. In retirement, Sandy volunteered her time to the St. Clare Church, taking communion to those that were home bound. She also volunteered for the American Cancer Society by driving patients to their doctors' appointments who were unable to drive themselves. In retirement, Sandy felt it was her calling to use her experience with the VA hospital to assist those returning from active duty and in need of hospital care. Sandy would personally drive veterans to the hospital to make sure they completed the appropriate paperwork and were connected to the right doctors.

It's safe to say, if there were ever a person in need, Sandy would always be there for them. There was never a time she was not trying to "pay it forward." "Paying it forward" was always her motto and something she always exemplified to her children, grandchildren and anyone else that came to her for advice. This happened all too often because she was a pillar in her family. She touched the lives of anyone that had the pleasure of meeting her. Sandy was truly an example of a strong, inspiring, and unforgettable woman, who is a Beloved Mother - Beloved Grandmother - Amazing Women of God.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and will reside forever in the hearts of us all. Her service will be held at 12:00 p.m., January 25th, at St. Clare Catholic Church, located at 19606 Calla Way in Canyon Country. The graveside ceremony will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn, located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Hollywood Hills.
