On January 24, 1950, Sandra Diana Gibbs was born to Booker and Lorine Gibbs, in Torrance, California. She was the third born out of four girls and was affectionately known as "Sweetheart". Sandra grew up in Long Beach, California and was educated in the Long Beach Unified School District, graduating from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1968. Sandra attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for two years before giving birth to the love of her life, Joseph K. Labbé – on her birthday and her parents wedding anniversary.

Sandra retired from the County of Los Angeles, department of Public and Social Services with over 40 years of service.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Booker and Lorine Gibbs, and her great nephew Andre Warren-Cyrus. She leaves to cherish her memory, her one and only son Joseph Labbé II; loving sisters Sadie Fields, Mary Porter, and Arlene Gibbs; nieces Pam Fields, Kimry Roberts, Robin Sharp, Mia Mathis (Michael), Toi Holmberg, and Megan Johnson; great-nieces and nephews Erika May (Antwan), LeAndra Crockett, Rochelle Ward, Tierra McDonald (James), Reginal Lambert II, Shantrice Pearson (Cardell), and Danielle Holmberg; and a plethora of great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, family, friends, and coworkers.
