Samuel Araos Pasag

August 4, 1945 — June 30, 2021

On Wednesday, June 30th, 2021, Samuel Araos Pasag was called to home at the age of 75. The world lost a great brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Samuel otherwise known as Sammy was born in Buneg, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan, Philippines on August 4, 1945 to Asterio & Leandra Pasag. The 3rd son of 8 children, he didn't have the opportunity for much formal education. Along with his siblings, he helped out on his family's farm starting at an early age. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to enlist in the Philippine Army.

After he completed his service, he immigrated to the United States in 1970. It was in Los Angeles, California he met the love of his life who was also from his hometown, Nellie Garingan. They wed in January 10, 1976. Two years later, they welcomed their daughter, Nerissa Sue Pasag.

An avid sports enthusiast, Sammy loved to play tennis. You could always find him at the tennis courts near Echo Park where he would play for hours. And if he wasn't there, then he was definitely at Tommy's on Rampart.

Sammy was an amazing family man and a great friend, whenever anybody was in a time of need, he tried his best to help as much as he could. He had an infectious laugh and his smile would light up the room. Everyone wanted to hang out with Uncle Sam. His love for his family never wavered even during his long illness.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Cipriano and Benny, and his sister Celedonia. He is survived by his wife Nellie, daughter Nerissa, son-in-law Joey, and granddaughters Kalani and Kalea.

A visitation for Sammy is planned for Thursday, July 15, from 8 am to 4 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 16 at 9 am. The visitation and funeral service will be at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.
