Haverhill, MA:  Samuel Jamgochian, 98, of Haverhill, formerly of Freeman St. Extension, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Wingate at Haverhill Nursing Home.

Born in Salem, NH, son of the late Oscar and Blanche (Garabedian) Jamgochian, he attended Salem High School.  He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Technician Fourth Grade and was a recipient of the The Good Conduct Medal,American Defense Service Medaland the Asiaic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with Three Service Stars.  He later   went on to further his education by attending
Pierre Technical School in New York City and Franklin Technical Institute of Boston. He worked as a Master Electrician for Thompson Electric, North Andover for many years and also later worked at Lincoln Foods, Lawrence.

A farmer at heart, he enjoyed gardening, working around his home and treating his children to Sunday drives.

The widower of the late Nellie C. (Sakalauskas) Jamgochian,  to whom he was married for fifty'seven years at the time of her death in 2011, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Jill Jamgochian of Haverhill, a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” and Dr. James R.Vitale of Plaistow, NH; two grandsons, James P. “Jamie” Vitale and his wife, Rachel  of Newton, NH and Daniel F. Vitale and his wife, Michelle of Worcester;  and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jenny, Armine, Elizabeth, Elijah and Oscar.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 8:45 to 10:45 AM at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A (Plaistow Village), Plaistow, NH.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will take place following the service in St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
