Salvador Martinez Gallegos

March 3, 1942 — April 10, 2018

It is with sadness that the family of Salvador Martinez Gallegos announces his passing on April 10, 2018. Salvador, 76, was one of fourteen children, born on March 3, 1942, in Sierra Mojada, Coahuila, Mexico. He resided in Highland Park, California at the time of his passing.

Salvador will be lovingly remembered by his wife; Josefina Martinez Vazquez of 49 years, and his five children; Mike Martinez, Daniela Santana, Salvador Martinez Jr., Alonso Martinez and Josefina Martinez and each of their respective spouses. Salvador will also be fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren; Oschuarti Carrillo, Jacquelyn Martinez, Isaias Martinez, Paola Martinez, Sofia Martinez, Penelope Martinez and the youngest grandchild Valeria Estrella Martinez (4 months old). Salvador will also be missed by his remaining sisters; Trinidad Martinez, Concepcion Martinez, Guadalupe Clark, Virginia Aceituno, Consuelo Torres and his brother Enrique Martinez and all of their respective spouses and children/nieces and nephews.

Salvador was a devoted father, husband and grandfather. For the majority of his life he worked in construction where he started as a laborer and soon after promoted to a foreman. As a hobby he enjoyed making "Mexican candy" out of his home, a trade he acquired in his youth, and eventually sold this delicious candy at local Mexican stores and small restaurants. Salvador also devoted his time during the latter part of his life to serving as a volunteer at church where he served for many years. Another of Salvador's passions included taking trips to Mexico where he and his wife remodeled a home and managed farmlands inherited by his wife Josefina from her father. His dream was to one day retire and live in this property in Mexico. Salvador will be remembered as a strong, hard working man that loved his family and enjoyed helping others.

He will be greatly missed.
