Chava De La Torre

Salvador “Chava” De La Torre, 88, was born in  Tepatitlán, Jalisco, Mexico.  They moved to Mexicali at a young age where later he met his wife of over 30 years.  He spent  over 50 years  as a  resident of the city Carson. Chava passed away on February 1, 2026, in Harbor City, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 14, 1937, to Anacleto and Hermelinda De La Torre, and was the eldest of twelve children.

Chava lived a life defined by integrity, kindness, and hard work. A devoted baseball fanatic, he also took great pride in his work, spending more than 50 years as a gardener. He was widely known for his dedication and perfectionism, qualities that reflected the care and pride he brought to everything he did.

A devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, Chava’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children Maria, Victor, and Carlos, and by his grandchildren Nana, Jason, Chris, Josh, Nick, Mari, Alomar, Scarlett, and Evan.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strong work ethic, loving heart, and the example he set for generations to come.
