Sally Davis Wills, beloved daughter, sister, wife and mother, was born on May 8, 1933 in Muncie, Indiana to her parents Mabel Manor and Fred Whitney Davis.
Sally spent all of her childhood in Muncie and continued to reside there until she was hired by the Texas State Legislature in Austin, Texas as a speech writer. Her career took off to the point that she found herself moving to Washington D.C. to work as a speech writer for both Lyndon B. Johnson and John F. Kennedy.
She was a fascinating woman who led a rich and full life that included socializing with many high profile personalities and extensive traveling around the world.
The greatest passion and love of her life was music. She was a highly prolific musician, mastering such instruments as the piano, oboe and cello. She was also an amazing composer of musicals. Nothing in her life gave her more pleasure than her musicals. She attended the American University in Washington D.C. and wrote countless dissertations and musicals on Native American music from the Taos Pueblos.
Sally met her late husband of 36 years, Wilbert Cecil Wills, in Alexandra, Virginia where they lived and grew their family. Sally and her family split their time between their residences in Virginia and California.
Sally was fiercely devoted to her family. Her innate creativity and passion for the arts carried over to both of her children, Charlie and Sherrie. Sally encouraged her children's involvement in the arts and was extremely supportive. She was a loyal and loving mother who would do anything and everything for her children.
Sally had many friends and loved ones. She was known as an elegant and graceful woman, but more importantly, she was warm, kind, loving, and caring. Her generosity and grand spirit was felt by all those around her. Sally surrounded herself with love and laughter and her effect on others was magical. She loved nature and being outdoors. She also loved animals, particularly dogs and cats.
Sally passed away on April 11, 2013. She resided in Pasadena, California at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Glendale, California. Sally is survived by her sister Beverly Jeanne Davis and her daughter Sherrie Sue Wills. She will be deeply missed by many.
