Ryan Michael Waldrip passed away suddenly in his home on September 21st, 2018 in Simi Valley, CA at the age of 47.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Julie Waldrip of Simi Valley; brother and sister-in-law Andy and Hanna Waldrip of Stevenson Ranch, CA; nieces, Sydney, Sadie, and Stella Waldrip; Aunt, Marilyn Ikes of Van Nuys, CA; cousins, Tracy, Eric, and Emily Heavens of Granada Hills, CA; Laurie Ickes of Granada Hills, CA; Todd Ickes of Van Nuys, CA. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kenneth E Waldrip from Barstow, Texas; Margaret Thompson originally from Canada; maternal grandparents, Emory and Muriel Ickes from Camarillo CA; and Uncle, Douglas Ickes of Van Nuys, CA.
Ryan was born on April 28th, 1971 in Van Nuys, CA to Michael and Julie Waldrip. He attended Notre Dame High school playing football, Soccer and running track, making countless friends and cherished relationships during his time there. After high school he attended Cal State Northridge where he was a member of the Pike fraternity. He then finished at UNLV where he successfully pursued a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He spent the next 20 years working in the food and beverage industry where he made friends with everyone who crossed his path.
Ryan was a loyal, caring and loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, incredible sense of humor, and his ability to make everyone around him feel welcomed and loved. He was a people person, animal lover, outstanding chef, and avid sports fan; his loyalty remained with his favorite teams: the Raiders, Dodgers, Lakers, and UNLV Running Rebels. He adored his dog Buddy and cat Tweeks. Ryan was a bright light in this world and he will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday October 4th, 2018 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills 6300 Forest Lawn Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90068. We encourage anyone who knew him to come celebrate his life. Flower donations may be sent to Forrest Lawn - Hollywood Hills to be displayed at the time of service.
