Ruth Strampe passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family's love at her home in Arcadia, CA where she resided for over 60 years. Ruth was born in Tremonton, Utah in 1918 and attended the University of Utah, graduating in 1938, Magna Cum Laude. On a trip to California she met and married William Strampe who was visiting from Wisconsin. Ruth enjoyed teaching 3rd grade in the Arcadia School District for many years.

She celebrated her 100th birthday joyfully with her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren all of whom cherish the memory of her joy. Ruth was predeceased by her husband William, son Steven and grandsons Bradley and Michael. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Cliff) Schaffer, sister Margaret Barry, grandchildren: Karin Schaffer, Brian (Marianne) Schaffer, Steven E. B. Strampe and great grandchildren: Natalie & Allison Hawk, Kylee Schaffer, Preston, Mason, Sarah & Michael Jr. Strampe.

Ruth will be laid to rest in a private family service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale next to her husband, Bill. There will be a memorial gathering on May 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 512 W. Duarte Rd., Arcadia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to be made to the Rose McGill Fund or City of Hope.
