Ruth Walker Perez

Ruth "Ruth" Walker Perez, 94, born on April 8, 1926, in Reidsville, NC, passed away May 5, 2020. She resided in Los Alamitos, CA at the time of her passing. Arrangements were under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California. Family Tribute as follows:

Ruth passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Proceeded in death by her husband Jose A. Perez Jr. she leaves behind her son Jose A. Perez III, daughter Sheree Steiner and her husband Robert.

Born in Reidsville, North Carolina, the youngest of 13 children (known as one of the beautiful "Walker Girls") she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked as a top secretary to upper management of the Internal Revenue Service. She was featured in Washington's Holiday Magazine on working women in the 1950's. Two years later she met and married the love of her life, Jose Perez, Jr. a young naval officer and together they traveled and raised their family until he retired as a Lieutenant Commander settling in Southern California. Ruth has been a beloved presence in Rossmoor for over 55 years.

Ruth excelled in tennis, dancing and bridge and was a trophy golfer. She loved entertaining, from fun social gatherings and formal dinners to hosting parties for her children and their friends. She always made you feel welcome and was well known for her home cooked meals. She had a talent for sending cards and letters that were humorous and heartfelt where her sparkling and warm personality always made one feel special and loved. Ruth was devoted to God, her family and friends, and always put others before herself. The care and love she showered on those around her, her radiant smile, sense of humor, words of wisdom and loving heart will be missed by all left behind.
