Obituary:
Ruth Beatrice Cash devoted over 30 years of service as an employee of the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools, where she poured her passion for numbers into her work.
Ruth passed away on May 18, 2024, in her hometown of Los Angeles, California. Born on December 27, 1924, Ruth's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, kindness, and unforgettable memories that will forever be held dear by those fortunate enough to have known her. Her dedication to her career was equaled only by her love for family. Ruth cherished moments spent with loved ones, especially during their annual Las Vegas trip. Her husband, Melvin Cash Sr., may have been the master chef in the family, but Ruth's spaghetti and fried breakfast potatoes became legendary among those she held dear. Her joy for dancing made her the heart and soul of every gathering she attended, spreading happiness wherever she went.
Ruth's life showcased a quiet strength and gentle presence that touched the hearts of all who crossed her path. Her kindness and warmth made her an integral part of the community, leaving an irreplaceable void.
Among Ruth's proudest moments was marching in community parades and being highlighted in local newspapers with the "LALA" group during their dance performances. She found joy in hobbies like traveling, bowling, second-line dancing, square dancing, Sudoku, shopping at her favorite spots, and savoring meals at restaurants with loved ones. Weekly shopping excursions with her daughter Joyce always concluded with lunch at Panns in Inglewood.
Ruth Cash is survived by her sisters Hazel Eva and Katie Ann, sons Bobby K. Thompson and Melvin W. Cash III, daughter Joyce R. Aubry, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends who will continue to honor her legacy.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Ruth's remarkable life will be held on June 1st, 2024, at Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills - Church of the Hills in Los Angeles. The service will begin at 3:00 PM, followed by interment at 4:00 PM. All who knew and loved Ruth are invited to join us in this final tribute to her.
Though Ruth may have left this world, her spirit and loving memories will forever dwell in the hearts of those privileged to have known and adored her. While she will be deeply missed, Ruth will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, dear Ruth.
