Plaistow, NH: Ruth S. "Shirley" (Smith) (Briggs) Bennett, died November 24, 2016 on her 86th birthday at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

Born in Saugus, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Pauline (Tabor) Smith. She was raised in Reading and North Andover, and attended local schools and after many years devoted to work and raising her family, she received her diploma from Timberlane Regional High School in 1981.
A resident of Plaistow from 1966 until 2015, Mrs. Bennet worked for many years in the local shoe industry and enjoyed sewing, playing cards, completing crossword puzzles and creating stained glass art.

The wife of the late Robert Briggs who died in 1973 and the late Robert Bennett who died in 2014, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Lee Briggs of Barnstead, Steven and Destiny Briggs of New Durham and Robert and Cynthia Briggs of Rochester, three brothers, David Smith of Hampstead, Gordon Smith of Lebanon, ME, and Larry Smith of Nottingham, four grandchildren, Dawn Corriveau, Robert Briggs, Daniel Briggs and Kate Briggs, four great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Sarah, Maggie and Jake, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10a.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in West Parish Cemetery, Andover, MA.
