Russell Lee Nix

Long time valley resident, Russell Nix, 85, joined our Lord in Heaven on June 25, 2015. Russ was born on October 19, 1929 to Thomas D. Nix and Minnie Maudela Nix. He grew up in Tuskahoma, Okla. prior to moving to the Coachella Valley where he later graduated from C.V. High School. Mr. Nix proudly served his country in the Korean War from 1951-1953. He married his "Sweetheart", Weda Caldwell in 1954 and they celebrated 61 years of love. Russ was known for his kind smile. He worked in the grocery business as the "Produce Man" and was a member of the UFCW local 1157 for 45 years. Russell was also a member of Wallace Memorial Family Church in Indio. He is survived by his wife, Weda; and leaves behind his daughter, La Juana Nix and son, Byron Nix as well as many loving nieces, nephews and family members. Family and Faith were his cherished values. He will be greatly missed. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Lawn in Indio. Funeral services will also be held at Forest Lawn in Indio on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00 am.
