Los Angeles

R. Garry Gallagher, born on March 2, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend who left a legacy of love and hard work. Garry's career as a machinist was marked by his passion and creativity. He opened his own shop with his business partner, Steve Ferguson, where he thrived in the art of machining. Among his many contributions to the field, Garry designed and created his own tool holder, proudly marketing his innovation at tool shows across the region. His dedication to his craft exemplified his commitment to excellence and entrepreneurship.

A graduate of Murray High School, class of 1955, Garry carried the values learned during his formative years throughout his life. He embraced the challenges and triumphs that life presented him, always prepared to lend a helping hand, or share a kind word.

Garry worked hard and played hard. An outdoorsman who loved nature he was always up for an adventure. Hunting, fishing, boating, and water skiing were some of his favorite things. He was a bit of a daredevil and enjoyed cliff jumping and motorcycling. He loved swimming and snorkeling in the warm waters of Tahiti and the Greek Isles. In true adventurer fashion, he and Marsha went on Safari in Africa and cruised down the Seine River in France. Having a love of music with a beat, Garry was a great dancer. With Marsha on his arm, they danced a hip swing for almost 60 years.

Garry's life was sadly interrupted by a stroke on July 5, 2024, while he was working in his backyard. Despite the efforts to recover, it became apparent that his journey would take a different path. He returned home on October 4, 2024, where he was surrounded by the love of his family and passed away peacefully the following morning.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marsha Gallagher; daughters, Denise Law, and Cindy Batchelor; sister, Connie Larson; sister-in-law, Mary Gallagher; along with many nieces and nephews, multiple grandchildren, and a few great-grandchildren.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents, Oswald, and Bonnie Gallagher; his twin brother, Larry Gallagher; and sisters, Bonnie Jean Winn, and Mary Jane Fullmer; as well as his children, Kelly and Kimberly Gallagher. A graveside service for immediate family will be held on October 29, 2024, at Forest Lawn - Glendale at 3:00 PM
