Rueben was born to Edgardo and Esther Villalobos in Los Angeles, CA on February 1, 1963. From the moment he was born, everyone knew that there was something extra special about Rueben. His laughter was magical and he always ended up making others laugh. He was the fourth of five children. He had a great family that was warm and loving and he was very close to his beautiful mom, incredible dad, his two sisters Arlene and Cathy, and his two brothers Edgar and Michael. While growing up, he often went on family trips to the beach as well as camping and hunting trips, which is probably where his love for surfing and guns began. In his teenage years, his brother Edgar would take him to local Dodger baseball games. This is where Rueben eventually met the love of his life Kim, while they were in high school. Rueben and Kim married shortly after high school. They started a family right away and their firstborn was Bernadette. She was the Apple of his Eye! Even though Rueben was a young dad, he was extremely caring and affectionate. Soon after Bernadette, her brother Branden was born. Branden was the son that Rueben always wanted. Rueben, Bernadette and Branden would often play ball, go to the park and ride bikes together. Many years later Rueben and Kim's youngest daughter, Breanna/Breezy was born. Rueben and Breezy did everything together, from playing soccer, to going on motorcycle rides, these two were best buddies and they were inseparable!
Rueben, Kim and the children went on several family vacations, often times for soccer tournaments and with great friends that were made through the soccer community. Rueben especially loved the Thanksgiving Holiday vacations with extended family to Lake Arrowhead, which always included amazing food prepared by his goddaughter/niece Trina and his nephews. Rueben enjoyed riding his Harleys and would go on long rides, including the Annual Laughlin River Run with his sister Arlene, brother-in-law Rick, and his godparents Anna and Corky. He was truly born to ride!
Then came along beautiful grandchildren from Branden and his wife Maggie, as well as Bernadette and her husband Ryan. Rueben and Kim have a total of four grandchildren- Bethany, Violet, Zoey and Dante, whom Rueben loved immensely and was extremely proud of. In addition to being a Wonderful Son, Husband, Father and Grandfather, Rueben was an Awesome Uncle. His bond was so strong with his entire family, especially his dad Edgardo. Rueben and his dad would watch boxing together for hours on end, reminisce about old times and would often go to Church together. His family meant the world to him and he was certainly the coolest G-PA and uncle around!
Rueben's thirty years of employment at Warner Brothers Studios brought him incredible friendships, which he cherished deeply. His close friends from WB arranged for Rueben, Breezy and Kim to go with them to a Kansas City Chiefs game in October 2019. It was a spectacular trip and even though Rueben was ill, he was adamant about getting around the stadium without a wheelchair. He was even given field passes to watch the Chiefs warm up, fulfilling his lifelong dream of walking the field at Arrowhead Stadium, arranged by his best friend Jennifer.
Though Rueben was a man of few words who often looked intimidating, he was actually an incredibly brave, generous, caring and honest man with a unique sense of humor. He was truly a warrior and fought ferociously until the very end. Rueben's faith and love for God was unwavering. We know that he is in Heaven celebrating with The Lord, his Beautiful Mom, Sister Cathy, Brother Michael, his Nina Anna and Nino Corky, along with other family members and friends.
