Rudy Villar, a beloved figure in the Coachella Valley/Palm Springs community and co-founder of the Brentwood Care Group, passed away on December 18, 2023 in Rancho Mirage, California. He was 81 years old.
Born on November 18,1942, Rudy’s dedication to his family and his community left an indelible imprint on the hearts of all who knew him.
Rudy's legacy was deeply intertwined with his professional role as a co-founder of the Brentwood Care Group in Rancho Mirage. He played a vital role in establishing this organization that was dedicated to the care of others, and also served as an advisor on the Boarding Care Administrator Association. Rudy's compassion and commitment to serving others earned him the respect and admiration of both colleagues and clients alike.
Rudy's kindness and peacemaking abilities endeared him to everyone he crossed paths with. Whether it was bringing harmony to troubled situations or lightening the atmosphere with his infectious smile, Rudy possessed an innate ability to make others feel at ease. His welcoming demeanor resonated deeply within his community—a testament to his genuine nature.
Rudy's love for his family was immeasurable. Annual gatherings with family and friends were filled with laughter, robust potluck tables, and his one-liner "Rudy-isms" that will be treasured forever. Rudy loved gardening and always had various projects underway in his backyard. As a loving grandfather, he endured many weekends over the years playing at Chuck E. Cheese and going fishing with his grandchildren, creating lasting childhood memories that will always be cherished.
Aside from his familial pursuits, Rudy exhibited an unwavering passion for golf. A dedicated golfer, he spent countless hours perfecting his swing while sharing funny stories and camaraderie with friends on the course. His ability to bring joy to others extended far beyond golf; he had an undeniable talent for lifting spirits and spreading positivity wherever he went. Rudy enjoyed several golf seasons vying for a trophy title along with his golf buddies in one of the many charitable golf events organized by the Fil-Am Golfers of Coachella Valley.
As an involved member and President of the National Alliance of Filipino-Americans (NAFA), Rudy dedicated his time and energy to philanthropy, ensuring that those in need received support and assistance. Additionally, Rudy was a devoted member of his church congregation, actively participating in the Filipino Ministry with the Diocese of San Bernardino. Along with his wife, Amy, their spirit of faith and community extended to the Sto. Nino and Mother of Perpetual Help Novena prayer groups.
Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Amy Villar, who stood by his side throughout their remarkable journey together. He is also survived by Linda Villar and their children/spouses: Derick and Ashley Villar, Jason and Anna Villar, Lynn and Taryn Loveman, and Monica and Aaron Kauffman. Rudy's memory will live on through his five cherished grandchildren: Maxine and Matai Loveman, and Ellis, Dexter, and Kai Villar. Other survivors are Rudy's Brother, Pedy Villar, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and beloved friends.
