Rosemary Douglas Webb, 87, passed away February 19, 2023, after a brief battle with stomach cancer. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA.
She was born in Bells, TX on August 20, 1935, to George Malone and Clara Elizabeth Douglas, Sr. She graduated from Bells High School in 1953 - where she lettered in basketball her sophomore, junior and senior years, was part of the Future Homemakers of America (FHA) society all four years, was on the pep-squad her junior year and won the title of 'Halloween Queen' also in her junior year.
Prior to graduating, Rosemary met and married James Lee Webb, Sr., from Chattanooga, TN. Together, they had 9 children: James L. Webb, Jr., Kathleen Buchel, Dianna Webb, Michael D. Webb (Jan. 5, 1961-Jan. 11, 1983), Douglas R. Webb, David W. Webb, Donald K. Webb, Sharon Cox, and Timothy P. Webb. The numbers of grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids is a shock to most; at last count, the numbers were 20, 24, and 2, respectively.
Rosemary was loved by all in the neighborhood! This was the "go-to house" for everybody. She prayed and cared for anyone who needed it; and by her actions, you knew that you were loved! She was tough, though. You wouldn't want to cross her because she had a pretty good aim with a house shoe or wooden spatula.
After moving to California, the family joined Miracle Church in Compton, which later became the Lord's Church when it relocated to Bellflower. There, Rosemary was a beloved Sunday School teacher for 20+ years. Outside of church, she babysat and sold Avon for almost 25 years. Later, she would become the gift shop manager for a chain of stores called Mickey & Me in and around Anaheim and Buena Park. She worked there tirelessly for many years until she was finally forced to medicaly retire in 2016.
Rosemary expected very little, but always gave so much - she wouldn't have had it any other way!
