Rosemarie Radogna

Our beloved Rose Radogna passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 5^th 2023.  She was born to parents Maria and Daniel Garcia on September 4, 1938, in Los Angeles California. Rose lived in her childhood home in Silver Lake until she married her dear husband, Joe Radogna, and moved five short blocks away.

“Rosita” had an exceptional childhood and was adored by her cultured parents. Her father was a chef and her mother a concert pianist, so she grew up surrounded by music, fine food, and family who visited from Mexico and Cuba.

She was an excellent student and graduated from St. Francis of Assisi School where she also was an active member of her parish. She taught CCD for over 20 years, sang in the choir, and was president of the Legion of Mary. Almost as important as her love of God was her belief in education, as every kid in her life will tell you, she always gifted them with a book.

Rose loved her Silver Lake home and was a pioneering community activist and neighborhood watch. She organized cleanups, covered gang graffiti, and took care of the L.A.P.D community outpost with her husband Joe. In fact, it was through her activism that she met and married Joe in 1990.

Rose and Joe had 33 years of good times together, they tooled around in their familiar brown Jeep and could make a simple trip to Trader Joe's or Gelson’s into an event. Never shy, Rose would strike up a conversation with total strangers, and in the end had friends that she loved and appreciated everywhere she went.

Rose was also active in the lives of her only daughter Juliet and an excellent “Abuela” to her precious grandson, Daniel Ingar, and her grand-dog Grace. No one liked to have fun and celebrate the holidays as much as Rose did. She loved to decorate, dress up, and she always enjoyed a champagne toast. Think of Rose next time you raise a glass and thank you for being here today to celebrate her cherished life.

She was recently preceded in death by her brother, Robert Demont, and cousin Mike Bermudez.
