Rose Vranich Turkaly December 27, 1919 - March 18, 2015
Rose passed away peacefully at the age of 95 surrounded by family and into the arms of her beloved husband, Peter, who preceded her in death in 1989. Rose was born in North Braddock, PA to Dora and Michael Vranich of Croatia. Siblings Rudolph, Anna and John also predeceased her. Rose graduated from Rankin H.S. and worked in various businesses in the pittsburgh area including Mine Safety during the war years, making gas masks for the soldiers. After the peace she met and married Peter on June 22, 1946. Family life with her 3 daughters soon took shape. Rose was an avid dancer, bowler, and collector of carousel art. The family relocated to Glendale in 1963 where Rose found work at Webb's department store. She retired after 20 years in the gift wrapping department. Upon retirement, Rose and Pete embarked on travel throughout the United States, Europe and often to Hawaii. Following Pete's death, she continued her travels with family and ventured as far as Hong Kong with her friend Dolly Mitchell. Rose moved to Windsor Manor for 4 years before her move to Solheim Lutheran Home.
She will be profoundly missed by her daughters Patricia a. Graham (Kent), Joan E. Patchett (Greg Loshak), and Elaine T. Snodgress (Steve). She leaves behind her 8 grandchildren including Megan, Jeffrey, Amanda and Matthew Graham, Alejandro and Jorge Patchett, and Andrew Snodgress. She also leaves her great grandchildren Alex, Ray, and Catalina Rose, her namesake, as well as her beloved nephew Joseph Vranich (Marie) and great nieces and nephews - too many to name. She loved them all.
The gifts of love, compassion and understanding - as well as the great love of coffee - that she gave us are immeasurable. We will continue to honor her legacy by our own lives, loves and adventures in her world of passion and determination.
Have fun dancing with Daddy again, Mom, up there in the clouds with his arms tightly wrapped around you - just like it was before.
